ACCIDENTS
FATAL FALL INTO WELL. (Per Press Association. —Copyright.) INVERCARGILL, April 8. A tragedy occurred this evening when Frederick Longman, aged 58, a painter, married, residing at Waikiwi, ! slipped and fell head first, clown a well 1 on his property. The well contained three feet of water, and when Longman was extricated, a few minut.es , later, by his son and a neighbour, lie ! was dead. The well was five feet deep and two feet in diameter. FOUND WITH THROAT CUT. CHRISTCHURCH, April 8. Simeon Brophy, aged. 41, was found in a small room adjoining the bar at the Royal Hotel on Friday, with his throat cut, and a razor lying beside him. He was taken to the Public. Hospital, where, lie die t j last evening. An inquest was held to-day before Coroner H. A. Young, who .roturned a verdict that Brophy died from a wound self-inflicted, while suffering from epileir'ie fits.' Papers found on Brophy indicated; that 'his jlast iadldress was the Public Works Department camp at Lake Sumner.
