MEETING HELD LAST EVENING.

Inward Correspondence. The Treasury, Wellington, wrote re any loans which it may be desired to raise in London in the future. —Received. The Health Inspector, Greyniouth, forwarding report of work performed in the Borough during January, 1934. —Received.

Tile Municipal Association, Wellington, advising that the conference of delegates will be held at Wellington on March 14.—Received.

Mr Alan Stevenson applied for a domestic water supply to Section 1164, and sought permission to instal septic tank on the same section. —Approved. Mrs Rugg, asked for permisison to instal a septic tank on Reserve 492, Whlitcombe Square.—Approved. Mr P. Mulrer.nan made application

for permission to fence and use part of Tudor Street.—Council granted conditional • approvement.

The Commissioner of Transport, 'Wellington, intimated that the Grey County Council had applied to the Minister of Transport to apportion the Heavy Traffic. License fees for No. 12 District, and asking for a certified' statement showing the appropriate expenditure in respect of roads for two years ended March 31. 1933.—Information to be supplied. A. R. Elcock applied for transfer of section in Hampden Street from estate of the late Mrs Roxburgh to Mr H. N ewman.—Gra n ted.

The financial statement showed that receipts since the last meeting amounted to £246/15/10, and payments to £1029/15/11. There was a debit oi £763/2/8 in the district fund account. Accounts totalling £172/9/7 were passed for payment. ’ Stock was slaughtered, at the muni-' cipal abattoirs during January as follows :—Cows 28, bullocks, 46, sheep 255, lambs 140, pigs 2, calves 3, heifers 35. Condemned :; Cows 2, heifers 2. Fees j totalled £7O/16/- as against . £6B/15/6 for the corresponding period last year.

FOREMAN’S REPORT. Tar sealing was carried on from the Convent in Sewell street to Hampden street, thence along the footpath oh the south side of Hampden street to Eitzherbeft street; along the footpath on the west side up to Tudor street, a distance of 30 chains; a' section in. Weld street between the clock tower and the railway. The junction of Stafford and Sewell street was reconditioned tor tar sealing, and a. down pipe moved nine feet along to allow for the width of footpath. Pot holes were filled with asphalt in Weld, Fitzherbert, Hampden and Revell streets. New pipes were put in the water main,' one in "Weld street.between Revel! and'Tancred streets, and one in Gibson Quay between Wharf and Revcll streets.

A water supply was put in to Mr F. Selby’s in Park street, and water se;vices repaired at Mr Sampson’s in Bealy street, Mr W. Shannon’s north Revell street, and Mr Policy's Park street, and new washers put on’ a fire plug in Bealey street. The water service in Rolleston street was extended to Park street. A new pipe was put on the pump at the gasworks, and the float in the' tar bojler repaired. Two concrete crossings were put in at Baty’s garage, one in Weld street an-.i one in Sewell street. The footpath and surface drain at lv. Ross’s, leading to Gibson Quay were cleaned. A number of leaks in various parts of the town were repaired. Tile average depth of whiter in the reservoir for the month was 2 ft.

NO 5 SCHEME. Drains cleaned. —Sewell street north to Town Belt, and also on east side, Hampden street from Tailored street to Sewell street south side, part of Brittan street, also at the corner of Sale and Hampden streets. Scything. —Fi fczherbcrt, Hampden, Hall, Brittan and Stafford streets. Footpaths Cleaned.—Fitzherbert to Tudor street, North Revell street, Sewell street west side, from. Stafford to Hampden street, and gravel o n footpaths where needed. Gravel Pit.—The supply for roads was maintained, also Park street widened between Rolleston and Davie streets with rough gravel. Abattoirs. —Various repairs have been carried out during the month. Cemetery.—Relief work was carried out under the supervision of sexton Cass Square.—Work was carried cot under the caretaker’s supervision, cleaning flower bed, footpaths, and lawns. A start was also made on the fence >at Macandrew Square.
