AUCKLAND,.' December 1

Messrs M. Poison, E. Britt, and R. T. Naylor,' trainer, jockey and manager of the racehorse Winooka passed through -pUckland by the Mariposa, returning to Sydney. r .Ithey ' declared their intention of going Aback t 0 the United States perhaps in February, and racing Winooka there in April and May. They will then probably take him to England to race. .Meanwhile, Winooka remains in America. They said lie had four wing in seven races, and won £2759, and but for ' the high exchange rate 'the trip would have been profitable. Mr Naylor emphatically said it was useless to take any but a first-class horse- to America, where there were some great horses. Equipoise, he said, was “a horse and a. half” and equal to Phar Lap. Mr Naylor also said that racing in the States was in a bad way. There was tremendous unemployment and many people were simply unable to pay the admission charge, and free tickets could be had for the asking.
