The Tramway Board elections were held to-day, when there wa s rather a j larger poll than usual- The, counting is not yet completed,- and it will not be completed before midnight. The present indications are, either, that Labour will have a majority on the Board, o r that the new Board will consist of four Citizens’s Association. members, four Labour members and one Independent. jjn the Sproydon-Addington area, Mr E. J. Howard, M.P., was elected by an overwhelming majority. For Eiccart'On-FendaUon area a badly split vote allowed Labour to win the seat. The Avon -Sumner area was won by j ■Mr W. J. Walter, *n Independent. The Hilis-Sumner area was won by Mi’s McCombs by a narrow majority over Mr W. J. Sim. In the central district, wher. e there ■are five scats, Rev. J. K. Mvkcr leads «})y several hundred. Following him, in close order, a,re five Citizens’ Association candidates and three Labour candidates, hut the best that the , (ORizerw’ Association candidates can hope for is to return four members.
