JAPAN’S MOVE TO END.
KOBE, May 17.
The Mai-Nichi, a Tokio newspaper, referring, to the deparure of Viscount; Ishii and the Japanese delegation to the Washington conversations, says they have been instructed to co-operate with America in an effort to terminate British shipping dominance. Under the heading, “‘Joint Check on Rule Britannia,” the paper intimates that since Britain is capable of damaging Japan ,by retaliation, Japan would at presqnt lie contended if the special position in Far Eastern waters was recognised. The Asalii states that since last year’s outbreak at Shanghai Japan’s naval vessels protecting Japanese interests in the Pacific islands have been, withdrawn but that protection will be resumed immediately. --.I
