A ROUGH TRIP
DIOMEDE EN ROUTE TO ISLANDS,

April 13. The Diomede which is conveying Their Excellencies to Samoa,, ran into had v.foather s.h[ortly after leaving Auckland. The- conditions (on Tuesday night , and h.ll day Wednesday were very stormy with strong, bead winds and heavy seas, which eventually necessitated the reduction of speed to seven knots. The Diqnigde frequently shipped sens, and it- was a very wet ship- for a time,- hut she came through the ordeal with credit; The most serious loss was the crash of crates containing eggs, “and all the King’s men could not put: these eggs together again.” .. The weather has slightly • improved the ship going at her -erdinnry cruising speed. All are well on board, and hope to reach Nukualofa at 11.15 a.m. on Saturday.
