STRUCK ON HEAD

A MAN ATTACKED

WELLINGTON, April 13.

Struck on the head last evening by a man who stepped out from behind a hedge, A. Browning, an engineer, of 70 liataitai Road, received a severe gash that required medical attention. Browning was coining up a pathway leading to 'his houeie, which stands back about twenty-five yards from the road, and when passing through a hedge, a man stepped out and struck him. Brown was almost at his own back door when assaulted, and upon his crying - out, the attacker fired. Browning was taken to the hospital where he Received attention. Later he returned to his home.

AN ARREST MADE

WELLINGTON, April 13,

Cyril Otto Fcothead, 22, appeared at 'Court, charged with assaulting David Browning at Hataitai. Detective Sergeant : Revell said Detectives Robinson and Campin .had prosecuted inquiries during the night and at four o’clock arrested the accused. Counsel for the accused intimated that accused intended to plead guilty. It was only /fair to state it was not a cage of attempted robbery. There was much more in it than appeared on the surface, he said,
