Weld and Stafford Sts. owing to a blockage having occurred through the flood at the beginning of the month. The drain, •a,,w05,9 Side Sit. at Mir R. Renton’s was completed, being lowered about three feet, the drain at thte corner of' Hampden and Fitzherbert Sts. and the corner of Revel! and Park Sts. was blocked with debris from flood wafers, these being cleared out. The drain outside the Roman Catholic Church Caved in for about twenty feet and we renewed the covering. We started Tancred St. drain on the 21st., and put in two days when heavy ,rain and high ticks compelling ws to leave it till the ond of the 1 month, the drain int the corner of Hall and Hampden St, was blocked by a piece of timber, flooding the section above it. We dug out the pipes and removed t]ie block. The drain in Revelil St. outside Mr G. Wood’s coved in, owing to a crushed

earthenware pipe, this was repaired. The pine line occupied a good deal of time tills month, the flood undermined the road between McKay’s Creek

and Slip Hill carrying away two pipes, needing two new ones, two days were spent in. repairing. The fire plug at the corner of 'Sale and Hampden St. was repaired, and a burst pipe in Weld St. Two new pipes were put in the water main in Hall St. between Hampden and P'ark Sts., and two new pipes in Fitzherbert main between Park and Spencer Sts., and another service repaired. On Sunday 12t»t., a pipe burst in Hampden St., this taking us till 9 o’clock at night to repair. The intake of Bealey St. drain was renewed, and two crossing®, one in Park iSt., -and one -in Davie St. repaired and the sunipli -at the corner of Bealey and Hampden St. was raised to the surface of the Street. A. numof leaks were also repaired about- town. The average depth of water in the reservoir for the month was 2ft. 6in. In' respect to- the flooding of the Air H. Kortegast-’s and, T. Stankey’s- in Rolleston St. I would suggest tlila-t to- relieve the water in flood time, tliat a drain be cut through the ro'ad reserve in the Botanical reserve, this would take- the overflow from Stafford St. and take it into the creek which runs through the reserve, thus preventing it running, through Mr Sweney’s and over Rolleston St. RELIEF WORKS.

Owing- to Air Oheiste-rmau’s time being fully taken up along with Air J; Cutbufeb, Air Gaylor supervised the relief workers, which were engaged on viarious footpaths cleaning them of growth, screening gravel, cleaning drains, at the aerodrome, abattoirs, scything growth from the sides of the 'streets, on harbour shed and wharf repairing and town reserve is.
