At Wellington wool sale to-night, superior crossbreds generally sold n.t prices fully firm on February rates. Alodium and coarse crossbreds declined a farthing. Inferior sorts were a 'full halfpenny lower.
The total offering was p.bont 19,000 bales. It was a comparatively small one. being 11,030 bales lielow the limit set by the New Zealand wool committee, and 6003 less than offered at the corresponding sale last season. The quality of the wool was not outstanding. It largely comprised medium topmakitig crcssbreds. There was a full bench of buyers, representative of every section of the trade, including a , strong Japanese contingent. Ridding at times was inclined to. drag. About 90 per cent of flic offering was sold.
The. range of prides was: Merino, average 8d to 81d, inferior 6fd to 7jd; fine lial bred, average Bd, to lOijd, inferior (Id to 7£d ; medium halfbred, average 7sd to lOd, inferior 4RI. to 7d. Extra fine crossbred, super 7}d to Bkl, average 5d to 7jd, inferior .3Jd to 4RI; fine crossbred, super 6d to 7RI, average 3i|d t. 0 sf(l, inferior 2d. to 3£d; medium crossbred, super sj-d to 6-|d, average 3id to sd, inferior lid to 3d ; coarse crossbred, super 4-1 to Cd, average 3kl to 4-Id, inferior lid to 3d;'low crossbred, super 4d to 4f, average 2ijd t (J 3|,. inferior to l 2ld. Hoggets: Extra fine 4kl to 9d, fine 4d to SRI, medium 3Jd to Ckl, coarse 3d to 41, low up to 41. Lambs down 5-1 d to Gd, fine ad to 9-Rl, medium up to fid, seedy and inferior 1-jd to sd. Bellies and pieces, halfbred good to super 5d t. () 64, low to medium 3d to. Gkl; crossbred, good to super 3Jd to fid, , low to medium 1J to 3'd.
