The annual matches for the King’* Prize were advanced a further stage at Trentham to-dlay when the Na-•' tional Rifle Association disposed of three single range matches, und one double range match. As . the result; of the matches already completed in' the , , Championship series', H. Simonds s Auckland) and E. 8. King (Wanga- . nui) are leading for the King’s, elach having an aggregate of 336. Simonds and King have each won the Champion Belt, the former in 1924, and thia latter in 1928. Conditions in the early morning were far from promising, but shortly after the .marksmen arrived at the mounds the weather took a turn for the better.

The competitors then moved back to the 500 yards mark for the first range of the Wellington Match. Here five possibles were recorded, the marksmen to put their ten shots into .the bullsoye being R. Nix repeated his morning performance -again,, .winning with the possible. T. H.- James, of Napier, - was second with 49. Pour possibles were made in one range of the Taranaki -Match,-which called for ten rounds at' 800yds. V. Dunn (Upper Hut) was the first to finish with all his shots bullls-eyes, and he was quickly followed by R. C. Barklie (Petone), R. F. Wakefield (Auckland) and W. 'Sheriff (Gisborne). The Trentham aggregate for the highest aggregate scores,in the King and Henry Match', Canterbury Match, H.pwke’s Bay Match and Wellington Match went to F. S.
