HOLLYWOOD, January 6
Betty Compson, the screen actress wasi gagged and robbed in her home on Thursday night. There- was sixty thousand dollars worth of, jewellery secured by a bandit, who gained an ■entrance disguised as a messenger.
VICTIM KNOWS INTRUDER.
AFRAID TO DISCLOSE IDENTITY. ■ (Received this day at 9.25 a.m.) NEW YORK January 6. A Hollywood message states that, in a sealed police report opened to-day, it was disclosed that Betty Compson, who was held up in her home on Thursday night and robbed of jewels valued at 60,000 dollars, was aware of the identity of the robber. Miss Compson’-s report saidj s he was afraid to name the intruder, because he might “take) her for a ride.”
The police said that they had summoned her. and Ed Leahin, her exproduction manager, with wh'om she was playing cards at the time, to headquarters for a second questioning. Miss Compson was hysterical following the robbery. “We are unable to get a comprehensive account from her,” declared Captain Tom Carman.
