MAN WHO FOSEti AS DETECTIVE. (Per Press Association — i : cpyrifht ) WELLINGTON, January (6. David Charles McGill, 38, pleaded guilty to a charge of posing . as a member of the police force; also to obtaining £3 from a woman, by falsely representing that he was a detective. 1 The police said that he told the woman that a relative of hers had been arrested by the Chief Detective, and offered to obtain liberty if he could leave immediately for Auckland. The woman acted before communicating with the police. ; ~ On the false pretences charge a fine of £5 or one month’s imprisonment, was imposed; on tlie other charge he was convicted v and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon. Accused is an old offender.
