CONCERN OVER ABSENCE
APPEARANCE AT KOKATAHI.
Carrying a 501 b pack, including a tent, sleeping bag, maps, prospecting dish, and rations to last for ten days. Thomas Hughes, married, a miner, of Brunnerton, left home on December 24, with the intention of walking through the ranges from Jackson’s, on the Otira Line, to Lake Kanieri. The ten days, however, were up last Tuesday, and in the absence of any word, fears were entertained for his •safety, although he was an experienced bnshman The police were communicated with, and probably a search party would have been organised, had not tiro missing man come out of the hush at Kokatahi yesterday afternoon, word to this effect reaching the Greymouth police last evening. Hughes went on tho trip alone, although the original plans were that Mr James Hunter, of Greymouth, should accompany him,
