WESTLAND TROTTING CLUB. The Westland Trotting Club was favoured with perfect weather yesterday, a fair attendance, a last course and splendid fields provided great trotI ting and close finishes., The race for the Club Handicap was ii specially fine I one, ‘ the dozen runners being well ' bunched throughout and theie was a punishing finish to. the post. At the I conclusion of the race the silver cup, presented by the' Westland Licensed Victuallers,! was handed over by Mr F. McGregor, President, who asked Mr G. W. Keller to make the presentation, He congratulated the winning owner (Mr W. E. comes) -on his' success. It had'been a splendid race .and I he congratulated both driver and owner, on the performance. Tiiere was some delay in the times of starting and the last race was over half an-hour late, but otherwise there was nothing to mar the general enjoyment. The Municipal Band was present and played ail. enjdyab.e programme. Speculation was fair and Mr Lynch handled £3642£ for the day'as , against £3790 last year.
