SYDNEY BRIDGE
MR FORBES UNIBLE' TO ATTEND'
OPENING
WELLINGTON, Feb. 16
An invitation from the N'ew Sou'th Wales Government'to the Prime Minister to attend ’the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge has had to he declined by Mr Forbes. It was 'thought that the Prime Minister might have travelled to Australia on t«£ie New Zealand cruiser Diomede, but circumstances are against any ceremonal visits at present. For this reason it ig understood that the Government 'is unable to arrange lor any Mins'terial representation at the function. Participation of the Diomede in the naval display on the opening day does not involve more than very trifling expense, owing to the fact that the engagement. coincides with the usual joint annual exorcises of ‘Australian and New ’Zealand ships,'which will be carried out with only a slight departure from the usual plans. _____
