(By Teleyraph —Per Press Association)
OHRISTHCHURCH, Feb. 18
At a meeting of North Canterbury Centre of New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union, the Chairman (Mr W. j’ Walter) stated that a report had been published to the effect that Taranaki Centre had been granted the Australasian road championship. He considered that if the report was correct it was unfair to Canterbury as North Canterbury Centre conducted the most important race in the Dominion. As a member of the Executive of New Zealand Union and also as a member of . New Zealand Cycling Board of Control he had not been consulted’ regarding the allotting ol the title. Mr Walter stated the Board of Control was a useless body as it had no rules. The Secretary was instructed to write to New Zealand Union requesting information as to | which body had granted the championship to Taranaki.
