NOTABLE’S DEATH
DENATURALISED BRITISH BANKER.

LONDON, February 17
A famous pre-war millionaire naturalised British banker, Edgar Speyer, died at Berlin, aged seventy. He was a conspicuous figure in London social financial circles. He was made a Baronet in 191)6. He resigned all English, offices in 1915 and asked Mr Asquith to revoke the Baronetcy. Mr Asquith Refused'- hfffiF T 922 the Home Score-' tary revoked his naturalisation, on the report of a Committee on Naturalisation. which found he had shown himself by act of speech, disaffected and disloyal to his Majesty and to have unlawfully communicated with the enemy.
