MAGISTRATE’S COURT
SITTING AT HOKITIKA,
There was a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Hokitika, this morning when Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., was on the bench.
JUDGMENT BY DEFAULT
Judgment by default was given in the case of S. Bassett v. McArthur and Co., £7 5s and costs £1 10s 6cl.
TRAFFIC BREACHES
John Hart was charged with driving a ear in a dangerous manner, but the
case was adjourned. For failing to keen to the left of a traffic dome, Allan Moore was fined os, and costs 10s.
UNEMP LOYMENT LEVY
F. McGregor for failing to pay unemployment levy, pleaded guilty, but not guilty to a charge of failing . to deduct ■emergency unemployment charge from wages.
It was stated that the case arose out of a visit of an officer of the Unemployment Board.
Defendant was fined 5s and costs on the first charge, and convicted and discharged on the second.
