THE GENERAL’S TOUR
VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND
LO. B ON, January 5
General Higgins a n d Mrs Higgins (of the Salvation Army) are due to begin an Empire tour on Fehiuaty 3rd. They will be accompanied by Colonel Pugmire (A.D.C.) and Major Frank Taylor (private secretary). According to present arrangements, officers’ meetings will be held in Toronto, and public meetings in Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, and Lo'S 1 Angeles. From Los Angeles the General will go to Honolulu, where he will conduct public meetings and officers’ councils and visit social institutions for men and women. The General and his party are due to arrive at Auckland on Monday, March 21st.- and will leave on April 18th. for Sydney. The campaign in Australia will begin in Melbourne on May 12t1i., and will include a visit to Tasmania. Leaving Fremantle on June 6th. General and Mrs Higgins will return via Sue/-, calling at Colombo, and reaching London on July 2nd. programme 1 for New Zealand as at present arranged is as follows: Arriving at Auckland o,n March 21st., there is to be a civic reception, and the General will hold a business men’s meeting and visit institutions on March "22nd. On March 23rd. he goes on to Palmerston North, the 24th. to Masterton, and then straight down to Christchurch overnight, arriving for the 26th. On Monday. March 28th., the General and his party go to Grevmouth. On the 29th. they return and go south to Ashburton. They will be at Timaru on the 30th., Oamaiu on the 31st., and Dunedin on Friday, April Ist. - The usual receptions and meetings will he held at Dunedin over the weekend, and a visit will he paid to Invercargill on April 4th. The General is to he back in "Wellington on Tuesday, April 9th. On the 10th., 11th., and 12th. Tie will visit Napier and Hastings, and go on to Rotorua on April 13th.
