BOMB FOUND
PLACED IN BASILICA. MEANT FOR MUSSOLINI? (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.---Copyright.) ROME, February 15. Little seriousness was at first attached to the discovery of a bomb on Saturday night in the Basilica of St. Peter’s behind the Pope Innocent the Eleventh Memorial. It was promptly dumped in the fountain and afterwards exploded. Experts ,say that it would have done grievous damage had it exploded in St. Peter’s,; It assumed that it was placed there a few hours before the Pope descended to the Basilica. At the Vatican City it is now thought it possible that the bomb was placed in position on Thursday when Signor Mussolini passed the memorial after his interview . with the Pope.
