LOCAL TEAM’S FIRST WIN.

Hokitika secured its first victory of jfclie season by defeating Ross by an Hiding's and 42 runs. Batting first Hokitika scored 154, Adamson and Eade adding over 30 for the first wicket. Schroder, Diedrichs and Def•b ridge each batter vigorusly, and off O’ four men failed to reach double figures. Eight bowlers were tried by Ross, Houlahan and O’Connell' being the most effective.
