DIPHTHERIA CASES
OUTBREAK AT ASHBURTON. THIItTY-TWO NOTIFJ.CATI ONS. ASHBURTON, January 7. Thirty-two cases of diphtheria have been reported in the Ashburton Borough so far, seventeen of them serious enough to warrant admission to the Ashburton Hospital. Ono child, an inmate of the hospital, died of the disease tin’s morning. The epidemic has caused the cancellation of the Friendly Societies’ picnic, which was to have been held here on January 30.
