BURST INTO TEARS. ACTRESS’ 'DIVORCE GRANTED. LONDON, December 24. Miss Irene Rich, the film actress, burst 'into tears at Los Angeles when told that her suit for divorce against her husband, Mr David Biackenhorn, was successful. It was one of the quickest divorces Oin record. Oniy a week earlier the two were believed to be happily married. Then came news of 1 a separation, which was speedily followed by Miss Rich’s divorce action and a counter-action by -Mi' Lrackenhorn, who charged her with being ‘‘cruel and inhuman.” He alleged that she said marriage was a detriment to her career. According to the reference books, Miss 'lrene Rich was. born “about 1390.” She had been on the. -films .for 13 years — ’“Lady Windermere’s Fan” and "So This is London” were two of her biggest pictures—and has a daughter aged 19, and another aged 12. They are the daughters / of a .former marriage—a runaway mari riage when she was 19.
PATROL ENGINES. INDIAN RAILWAY SABOTAGE. CALCUTTA, December 24. Following the second case of sabotage on the Indian railways within four days, the railways authorities have decided to run patrol engines in front of expresses and mail trains to and from Calcutta on the East Indtiiiji railway. Examination showed that fishplates had been removed, o.i, uas injured.
