BURMISTER WINS ON s .. POINTS. AN INTERESTING CONTEST. CHRISTCHURCH, September 8. Sam Burmister and Rocky Marshall secured a fall each in their profession al wrestling match in the Civic Theatre last evening, the deci ion eventually going to Burmister on points. Burmister secured a submission fall in the third round with a double, arm lock, while Marshall used a body press for his fall in the sixth round. The contest went the full eight ten-minute rounds. Both' showed themselves to be clever and quick wrestlers, and neither indulged in much showmanship. Marshall was slightly the quicker of the two, and; was a little more clever but Burmister’s- tremendous strength got him out,of many awkward predicaments ,and gained him the decision. Together with the .four amateur b uts staged, the match provided excellent wrestling. On the mat Burmister put on a head scissors, which Marshall broke, to be thrown at once with a head lock. Marshall retaliated with a figure-four arm bar and then a head scissors, but B rmister got free with a tremondous effort, and put a reverse wrist lock on to Marshall. He got free to clap on a double toe hold, to which he applied pressure. Burmister freed himself. Marshall then applied the standing splits, and showing tremendous strength Burmister tore free. Burmister then threw Marshall, and put on a head scissors. Marshall tried for a hammer lock and Burmister just saved higelf, and got a double toe hold, and was putting on pressure when t! o gong sounded.
