ECONOMIC COMMITTEE. <By Telegraph —Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 9. The special Parliamentary ‘Economic Committee this morning commenced the hearing of evidence irom Messrs Sterling and Esson of the Railways Board, but this was not completed and a statement dealing with railway finance and other matters will be presented to the Committee when these officers again attend the meeting at a later date. The remainder of the morning was occupied hearing additional Department’s evidence. * Mr W. Robertson, Under Secretary of Lands, is presenting his statement and the Committee will this afternoon continue hearing the views of Mr Robertson, and Mr J. Fawcett, farm economist of the Department of Agriculture, will also be heard. Mr F. D. Cornwall of the Trades Labour Council will probably complete his .statement this afternoon.
