THURSDAY, JULY 16th. , As this is “Country Week,” in connection with the Auckland Winter Exhibition, IYA has arranged a special old-time concert for this evening. This will be given by the IYA Broadcasting Choir and the Orchestral Octet. From 0.30 p.m. to 11 p.m. there will be a special old-time dance programme. A three-act comedy, “Sweet Lavender," by Mr A. A V. Pinero, will be presented from 2YA. .Studio. The comedy will be produced under the direction of Mr Clement May, who will also play the leading role of Richard Phenyl, barrister. The cast of eleven is well chosen and the comedy should prove most entertaining. A recital of “Songs off the Beaten 'track” will be a feature of 3YA’s programme. This recital will be given by Mr W, H. Dixon, L.R.A.M., A.R.C.M. iHe will illustrate his lecture by singing three songs; "Water Boy," "Five Little Japanese Songs,” “Old Man Might Have Beni." Other attractive features of the programme will be two. playlets, Miss \aare Hooper and Mr 11. L. Shaw taking the leading roles Miss Adic Campbell, popular soprano, will sing three songs to orchestral accompaniment. An orchestral programme will be provided by tlie Studio Octet. FRIDAY, JULY 'l7th. j ! A very interesting programme has been arranged by IYA this evening. It is full of variety. The Laloma Quartet, j consisting of Islanders, who have toured Australia under engagement to the Union 'Theatres, will be heard in several delightful melodies. Mrs Stella M. Hall (soprano) and Mr Morris T. Schrocder: (baritone) will be singing. The Snappy Three will be heard in several of the latest ballads and Miss Dorothea Ryan will entertain at the piano. Mr 0. ’S. ■ Lewis will give two clarinet solos from his extensive repertoire. Featured on the evening’s programme • from 2YA, will be Mr E. Mac.phersoii, j exponent of the banjo. This artist Inis ■ the reputation of being one of the fore-, most soloists in Australasia, and has appeared before the microphone at all the A Class stations in the Commonwealth. Miss Owladys Edwardes (soprano) will again delight listeners, this time with a cycle of songs by •Arundale.
