COLLISION IN GORGE

THREE PERSONS INJURED. WELLINGTON, October 21. Two .'motor-cars collided shortly after 8 o’clock tonight in the Ngahauranga Gorge at he identical spot where Mr and Airs Cooper, of Johirsonvilie, were killed in a collision a few weeks ago. Three people were injured and removed to the -Wellington Hospital. It is believed that their injuries are not very serious. The injured are: Mrs Alifred E. Earl, contused wound on the right.eye, slight injuries to the back, and shock. Mrs Kane, head injuries and shock. A. Kane, a number of small cuts from broken glass, and shock. Mr and Mrs Earl, who were accompanied hv Mr and Mrs Kane, had come from Napier and were on their way to an hotel in Wellington, Mr Earl having disposed of his farming interests iir Napier. Everything went well until they were in the gorge. The steering gear went wrong and the car became uncontrollable.

At the same time Air H. Rogers, of Wellington, was proceeding up the hill towards the corner. He noticed at once that there was something wrong with the other car, which was coming over the road. He pulled well over to the left just over the bridge and hal almost stopped when the oncoming car crashed into the side of his car. Tim two cars wore badly-damaged and came to a stop within a couple of yards of the bank.
