It .is desirable, therefore, that the Board should have from tin's Council a definite expression of opinion upon the provisional boundaries, as they affect or are likely to affect the district under the 'jurifidictiori of this Council. —Received and provisional boundaries approved.

FOREMAN’S REPORT. I 'beg to report the following works were carried out during the month: - Kerbing was carried out in Fitzherbert 'Street for of the month, the remaining five chains • between Park and Hampden S(riels were finished, and ten chains between Stafford and Hampden Streets was. completed, the total, distance 'being fifteen chains.

Two water services were put iif! one in Sale Street and one in Fitzherl>ert Street, and, two pipes were renewed in the waiter main, one on Gibson’s Quay,- and also in Rolleston Street. ' ■>' '

Two days were spent on the pipe line between the reservoir and the Kanieri Forks in repairing,. < »

A crossing was put down at Mr Coulson’s in Sewell Street, while a number of leaks were, .repaired in various parts of the town. Tlie average depth of water in the reservoir for the month was Bft 6in. —Received. i. ...

WATER REPORT. •' t _ '! . *» During thq month the water main from the Lake was joined up with the present line, about one hundred and two chains from the. Lake, the nine inch Hume pipes giving a., niuefi better flow of. water than the original line. Tested for a week from the Lake only, with the Penstock water turned off, the pressure gauge road 95 which is just enough to hold the level of water in the . reservoir; . combined with the penstock water the pressure is 105. This is sufficient to keep the reservoir full. I am of the opinion that it would be advisable to keep the valve from tlie 1 penstock open on account of the condition oi the line between the Forks and where it is linked Up with the Hume pipes, as it is very bad in places, and in the event of a breakdown it would seriou.d.y effect the quantity in the reservoir before repairs could be carried out—Received.

From Manager Abattoirs, reporting for month of June there were slaughtered:—ll coavs,. 2s heifers, 69 bullocks*. 192 sheep, 7 lambs, 18 pigs, 31 calves. Condemned: 1 sheep. Fees for period £64 9s (for same period last year £7B 9s. Od).—Received.
