THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.
THE FRIENDLY RECEPTION.
The country is always more or loss / friendly to a new Ministry, and there is a feeling that the Forbes Cabinet should be given a lair chance to show what it can do. Mr Forbes and hia colleagues, we hope, will not presume upon this. They are surrounded with difficulties, and the call is for resolution’ and courage. Unemployment, land settlement, railway construction— these and other great questions face them, and their party clbesTifflt command ai majority of its own in the House. These conditions, hqwqvjjr, are no excuse for timidity . and;' .''.half-measures. The country needs government by strong men with 1 ideas,, and -we are sure it will readily respond to such, direction. . > ■ —Auckland Star.
