FARMERS ON TOUR.

VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND

Alore and more the farmer is realising the benefit to be derived from the exchange of visits and the study of methods and conditions in countries other than his own. This is brought home by the fact that parties of farmers from Great Britain, South Africa. Canada and Victoria will he visiting New Zealand during the next few weeks, while arrangements are at present well in hand for a. party of New Zealand farmers to proceed abroad on an instructional and pleasure tour early in May.

The South African party is due at Auckland on Tuseday next and the Canadian party is expected to arrive at the same place oil February 23 and the English party two days later. After the arrival of the latter the three parties will join up as one unit, the combined group totalling between 80 and 90, several of whom, are women. After visiting the principal centres in the North and South Auckland districts, Hawkes’s Bay, Taranaki, Rangitikei and Manawatu, the party will reach Wellington from the Wairarapi on March 9th. The main points of interest, both from an agricuitimil and tourist point of view, will be inspected, after which a tour will be made through the South Island as far as the cold lakes district and Invercargill. The parites will leave New Zealand on March 25th. 'The Canadian section will sail frem Wellington and the British and South African sections from Auckland.

The tour, which will be managed by the British National Union of Farmers, will be under the personal supervision of the secretary, Mr A. Canlnvm, of London. It had originally been intended that the GovernqnGeneral designate, Lord Bledisloe, should lead the party, but his place will now be taken by Air : S. It. Whitley, who is brother of the late Speaker of the House of Commons.
