AEROPLANE CRASHING.

CHRISTCHURCH, February 17.

Striking in quick succession the top of a hedge, and the temporary bandstand at Wigram Aerodrome the threeseater Simmons-Spartan aeroplane, owned by New Zealand Airways Ltd., and piloted by Miss Arohra Clifford, was extensively damaged yesterday afternoon. The machine rose slugglishly and the undercarriage failed to cleir the hedge and fence, which bounds the landing field near the hangars. The undercarriage and propellor of the machine were smashed. The damage is esimated at £2OO. . ■■

Being weather bound here they are not able to proceed to Clirictehureh. ~
