CRICKET MISSIONARIES
TUITION FOR GIRL PLAYERS

The role of cricket missionaries was undertaken yesterday by three members of the New Zealand eleven Messrs C. S. .Dejnpser, K. C. James and F. T. Badcoek.
tinder the guidance of the wellknown local enthusiast, Mr A J. Williamson, the three players paid a visit at the luncheon hour to the Auckland Girls’ Grammar School at Howe street where they were introduced to and welcomed by the lady principal, Miss Johnston and the sports mistress, Mrs Heap.
At the moment a number of members of the school cricket team were engaged in practice. After watching the practice for a time Messrs Dempster and Badcoek. at one end of the practice wicket undertook a coaching lesson on batting, to the intense interest of the assembled pupils and the ■•tioular benefit of the players. Mean time at the other end of the wicket Mr James, the New Zealand wicket keeper, 'gave the school’s stumper a practical demonstration of the art of saving byes and of keeping batsmen in their place. When the party concluded the deminstfation Miss Johnston, is expressing thanks declared that the visit of international cricketers was unique in the school’s history, and the pupils spec! the parting guests with a salvo o>f ringing cheers.
