CHINESE WAR
FIGHT FOR CANTON. NOW PROCEEDING. [United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] f (Received this day at 8 a.in.) HONGKONG, Dec. 3. Reports state Hint last night initial lighting for possesssion of Canton commenced in earnest. Wounded ar: sarriving in Canton and rc'inlo,icements are being rushed by Cantonese to the front in order to strengthen the resistance. Kwangsa forces have .been steadily advancing on Canton in the last few days in conjunction with Nanking’s Ironsides.
MUTINY IN ARMY. (Received this dav at 9.25 a.m.) SHANGHAI, December 3. Non-payment of wages, coupled with a dislike of the order to proceed with the Cantonese to fight the revolting ironside troops, precipitated a mutiny in the regiment of the twenty-fourth division over the Nationalist Aiiny, commanded by General Shishvusan at Pukeow opposite Nanking to-day. The soldiers are looting ships in. the principal streets and fleeing to the surrounding districts. Other troops have been called in to quell the mutiny which is resulting in considerable shooting in the outskirts olf Pukeow. A number of civilians were killed and several houses were burned at Fukow. The Nanking ferry service has been suspended.
