WOUNDED BY BULLET
MOTORIST’S MISHAP
SHOT PASSED THROUGH windscreen.
OHRLSTCH ÜBCH, Nov. 30
A rillo bullet struck Air A. Adams, a toiler in the Bank of Now Zealand branch at Methven, when he was driving through Dunsaiidel yosteulay morning. “'l'here was no bullion on board,” stated Air Adams with a smile, when questioned on his arrival in Christchurch.
The bullet cut cleanly through the windscreen of the Overland Whippet car which Mr Adams was driving from Methven, cut a. path along the side of his head, and careered on through an open side window. It missed Mir Adams’s right eye by about an inch, and caused the blood to flow freely. “T heard a swish, and then my daughter in the front seat with me asked me what 1 had done, for blood was gushing down my face and coat,” said Air Adams. “T didn’t hear the report of a rifle, and did not look particularly to see if there was anyone nearbv with a rifle.
“W'e were nearing Duusandel when this happened. There were 110 other cars near us, so the hole in the windscreen could not have been caused by a flying stone. The hole in the glass is round, cleanly cut, and just the size of a pea-rifle bullet. We were making fairly good pace at the time.
“My wife and another lady were in the rear seat of the car. They were naturally very alarmed at the occurrence. We were coming in from Moth von to go to a thrilling entertainment in Christchurch. We received some of our thrills on the way in, without a doubt.”
