Aitcheson (St. Kilda) 70. Dr Jarman said that this was quite an inspiring section. Out of 23 comnetitors he had recalled no fewer than five. Miss Bald’s selection was ideal for a sacred solo. She displayed beantifully equalised tone control anu /her interpretation was full of devotional sincerity. Miss Green had a voice of delightful quality, but her breath control was not always clean. She gave a nice ■ sincere interpretation. With regard to Miss Young’s performance Dr Jarman .said that he would like a broader “a” in “Israeli” There were a few moments of uncertain in--tonation. She phrased well and gave a nice, live interpretation. Her voice was a little forced at the end.
