MINISTERIAL VISIT TO MALTA (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Oct. 1., Mr Tom Shaw, Secretary for War, and Mr O. G. Ammon, Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty, are to pay an official visit to Malta on October 12th. They will leave'Malta on October 16th. for Gibraltar. NEW MOTOR RECORD. LADY’S FINE DRIVING. A remarkable feat was accomplished by Mrs Joan Chetwynd, who driving a Lea Francis car ,covered 996 miles in twelve hours at an average speed of 82.97 -miles .an hour, on the Brooklands track yesterday. This beats the record held by Mrs Urquhart Dykes, who made an average speed of 81.3 mile san hour for 12 huu/», During the first three hours Mrs Chetwynd averaged 86.5 miles an hour, but the last part of- the drive took place in heavy rain and bad light.
