The Southern Hawke’s : Bay Farmers’ Union to-day had befoyeiiyt; a. lengthy circular from the -North. Taranaki Executive, • regarding, the Do-; minicn President, stating- in \PefeHence. to attacks made on Mr Poison, that “If this organised agitation is allowed to continue, the Farmers’ Union /j would be discredited, and the large amount of good work' that has put the Union in the-sound position it is in to-day.” ■ , , Mr James Livingstone, the local President, and a member of the Executive, warmly defended Mr Poison. He said Mr. Poison did not belong to any political party, and was doinghis best in the interests of the farmers.. ' ’ ■ ", • • “There lias,” he said, “been an absolute endeavour to discredit him. for the purpose of political propaganda; Mr Poison is a man who. has never followed any particular, party.
