BY USE OF PIGEONS. Telegraph—Copyright). CONSTANTINOPLE, Sept. 30. The Turkish authorities at Smyrna Gaol, who have been baffled to know how prisoners have been constantly obtaining supplies of opium, kept a watch and it was discovered that the prisoners had tamed pigeons, which were nesting in the prison yard. They gave those birds to their friends on the regular weekly visiting days. Their friends then tied phials of opium beneath their wings, and the birds homed with the precious luxury.
