MISSING BOY RETURNS
MAN CHARGED WITH SERIOUS OFFENCE. AUCKLAND, September 27. The mystery surrounding the disappearance of a boy from his home in Mount Eden on Wednesday afternoon was solved this morning when Detective Power arrested a hotel porter named Alfred Carter, aged 29, in Queen street, on a serious charge. The police state that the / bov answered a newspaper advertisement; for a position, which was to earn- a wage of £1 a week and found. He interviewed a man as the result and subsequently received a telegram asking him to keep an appointment in the city on Wednesday. The youth left his home for the purpose, but did not return on Wednesday night. His parents became alarmed and reported the matter to the police. Yesterday morning the boy returned home about 10 o’clock. It is alleged that he accompanied the man to a -boardinghouse where he spent Wednesday night.
