RUSH FOR DIVORCE
NEW ENGLISH, RECORD. ['United Press Association.—By Electric , Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, Sept. 23. Divorce is rapidly increasing in England. Seven hundred cases await tlio London Judges alone. The opening of the Divorce Courts takes place next month. By December no fewer tlia.v 2600 marriages will have been dissolved m London during the year 1929. The. total will reach nearly five thousand divorces when the rest of the country is taken into consideration. There are four times as ma.iv shattered romances this year than iho-e wore in 1914. One half of the dissolved iv.a:riages were childless ones. It is pointed out that one of the primary causes of the increase in divorces is the act of preventing publicity of the eases in the newspapers. “Secret Divorce” is how the Act is oft times described) In view of the alarming growth of divorces, a question affecting an amendment of the Act is expected in the House of Commons,
