GERMAN TALKIE PLANT. N.Z. RIGHTS IN AUCKLAND. BERLIN, September 17. The negotiations between the Western Electric Company, United States, and the German talking film combine, represented by tlie Klangtohn Company, have been broken off. The 'Klangtohn Company lias issued a statement, saying. “As the Western Electric claimed exclusive rights in all English-speaking countries, without considering our existing rights in England, we considered that a continuation of negotiations would be useless.”

In neaVly all European countries the strength of the patents held by the Klangtohn Company is such that the American apparatus cannot be used there. American apparatus was legally seized at the Forum picture house, in Budapest, and similar action will follow in other countries.

The Klangtohn Company recently made a singing and talking in German and English.

It is learned that the exclusive G ror New Zealand of the Klangtohn Company are held by a prominent Auckland firm. The company is named tlie Klangtohn, a title derived from the German Ivlang, sound,*’and tolin, tone.
