At a: special meeting of the Auckland Rugby Union, it was decided to protest against the altitude of the Canterbury Rugby Union in request--ing an outside referee to be appointed for the match between Canterbury and Auckland at Auckland to-morrow week.
A deputation from the Auckland Referees’ Association protested to the Auckland Management Committee against any action that will eliminate the Auckland referees from officiating in any local rep. matches, and if' it will not .stand by the referees) they will reconsider their decision to referee under the amended rules, * >
The following resolution was carried: .“That this • Union assures the deputation that this Committee will support the Referees’ Association in jts endeavour ,;tp -secure appointment for outside piatbhes • and furthermore this committee will do everything in its power to secure the appointment of an Auckland referee for the Canterbury match.?’ v' ’ • ’ • ' '
