This type of picture merited much success when intro■j duced with “Partners in Crime.” The 1 new picture, “ The Big Killing,” is a clever satire, bristling, with humour, 'on another section of American life, the : backwoods .mountaineers. In 1 “ Partners .in Crime,” Beery and Hatton supplied l the comedy overtones which gave the keynote to the picturisation of the underworld life of the larger cities.' Gang warfare, petty politics and police activities, all of which occupy so much front page space in -the daily newspapers, were viewed from the humorous angle and serious situations were turned into convulsing laugh '’iriomehts.. The new Beery-Hat-ton melodramatic comedy, “ The Big Killing,” which will be shown at the Princess Theatre to-night, goes a long ■■( way from the larger cities rind ..even from the front pages of the newspapers. It deals with a family feud war among the moonshine-making mountaineers in the' backwoods. This type of individual still' exists in the.; United States in large numbers but, being remote, his activities being largely confined' to his own virgin .territory; , little is heard or known of him.
