TARANAKI BOUTS. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, May 20. Tommy Donovan (Waitara) defeate I .7. Leslie (Auckland) on points in a ten rounds professional bout on Saturday night. It was a stirring fight, and it was the first occasion on which Donovan had been extended, ail his other pro fights having been won by knockouts in early stages. J. Crowley (Wellington) was given a points decision against R. Midge ley (larannki) in another successful ten rounds, but the verdict was not. popular. The crowd that packed the Opera House was further evidence that box ing is again booming in Taranaki. AT SYDNEY. SYDNEY, May 24. At the Sydney Stadium Babe Herman (U.S.A.) knocked out Jack Roberts (Newcastle, N.S.W.) after twenty seconds of the twelfth of a 15-round contest.
