PAPAL HONOURS CONFERRED

St. Alary’s Cathedral witnessed a brilliant ceremony to-day when Papal honours were conferred on a number of citizens for services to the Church during the recent Eucharistic Congress and in previous years. Five laymen, Sir Mark Sheldon, R. D. Meagher, L. Cotter, Michael Meagher, and Matthew O’Neill were admitted to ho Knight Comnxandois of the Order of St. Gregory. A number of other distinctions were conferred. Father Meaney, organiser of the Congress, who is non visiting Rome, .and Father L. J. Baugh have been made domestic prelates to the Pope with the title of Right Rev. Monsignor.
