The ’Secretary (Mr R. M ild) took the chair and m.iied nominations ,or the position of Chairman. Air -Mclntosh moved that l)r Teicii'l.'nauu be elected Chairman. J>r Teicheimaun declined nomination and moved that. Mr Houston he Chairman. Seconded by Mr Richards and carried. Mr Houston took the chair and thanked members for electing him as Chairman. He referred to the prospects of tile trade of the part, expressed regret at the mishap to tlv* Zingara, and trusted that members would all work together in the best interests of the harbour. The Chairman moved that the Board place on record its appreciation of the past services of the ' retiring Chairman, Mr Geo. Wood, who had dono excellent service on behalf of the Board over a long period of years. Seconded by Mr Heenan and carried. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Heenan, a similar motion was passed in appreciation of the services of Mr W. Ziegler, a ietired member. 'Flic Chairman moved that a vote of sympathy be conveyed to Air E. A. Wells, a former member of the Bonn 1 , in connection with the recent death of his wife. Carried in silence, members standing. The minutes were confirmed am 1 outward correspondence was approved.

Arising out of the outward corre---rvnidonoe the question of the rubbish dump being removed nearer the sigir-l station a.s notified to the Borough Council was discussed. Members we o of opinion that it would he better to remove the rubbish dump altogether, the north end of iTie town being considered a more suitable position. Mr Heenan was deputed to place the matter before the Borough Council that evening. INWA RD CORRESPONDENCE. From Harbours Association- jn connection with audit matters.—Received. I f . Hokitika on his present visit to thp West Coast.—Received. From various, circulars, etc.—Received. REPORT. Tile Harbourmaster reported that Mie bar was in good order there being a depth of 12 to 13 feet. Following a recent flood a scour has taken' place on thp north w.all about the signal station, affecting the wall for a distance of 4-GO feet being undermined, and causing considerable .danger, portion of the \vall having fallen several inches.—Received. It was mentioned by Mr Heenan that the north wall was in i. nos position, owing to the soour wln-rc *luny was over 39 Feet of warcr. and si line of the piles were hanging. After a general discussion, Mr Heenan moved that in connc.-t : on with the South WuM repairs, tha* nothing further lie done until f h“ Ziivnra was removed, being of tb« ■minimi that if a southerly sea struck the Zingara she would he carried through the wall and causa muci) more damage to t)ie wall, and any ‘xnenditure till the vessel was removed would simply mean a waste of money. It was generally agreed that the Zingara in its present position was a very distinct danger to the wall. It was resolved that as the previous notice to remove the vessel had not beeii observed, that the present nwnrs he given seven days to state tlieii intentions, and if these were no' satisfactory that the Board take steps to remove tin* vessel and thai the cost be charged to the owners. Mr Heenan moved that no timber he allowed to lie stacked on the wharf, any timber for shipment to be .stacked on the skids. Seconded by tin Chairman and carried. Air Mclntosh moved that the tender of J. Johnston for repairs to the South Wall he cancelled and to re fund the deposit. Seconded by Mi Richards and carried. Repairs to the wharf were left t( the Chairman, Mr Heenan and Secretary to attend to. It was resolved to inspect the dan ger to the North Wall near the flagstaff before coming to any decision as to action and that a special meet ing he held to deal with tho matter next week. Accounts amounting to £49 15s lid were passed for payment. Dr Teicheimaun was appointed Treasurer and to sign documents.

Enquiries were made by Mr Heenan in reference to skid room and it \va--resolved to confer with the Secretary as to the position. The Board rose at 5.30 p.m.
