BUSINESS IN WELLINGTON
TOO MANY OFFICE FLATS Apparently Wellington firms, like ninny in Auckland, are finding a difficulty in letting the office flats which nowadays constitute the upper portions of big new buildings that are being erected. Speaking at the annual meeting of the Wellington Deposit Mortgage and Building Association, Mr W. H. P. Barber, chairman of directors, said:—“T,lie decrease in net profit is wholly accounted for bv reduced returns from our Panama Chambers rentals, due to the coinpettiion from, a number of large new buildings recently erected having vast numbers of offices to let. It would appear that the business community has been unable to absorb tlic great addition to office premises, together ith those already existing, indicating that the building of business premises is in excess of present requirements.”
