Mr Coates, in his statement on the political position, added: “I may say that in accordance with my duLy, I have discussed the .situation with His Excellency, who lias been pleased to accept the advice J. have taken the responsibility of tendering. I may also state that in'the interval until Parliament assembles, it is the intention of the Government to refrain from making any appointments beyond such as are essential if or the proper discharge of the public business.”
