ANNUAL MEETING
DUNEDIN, November 22
At the annual meeting of shareholders in the Westport Coal Company Ltd. the report and balance-sheet providing for a final dividend of Is 3d per share, making 2s 3d for tho jyoar, were adopted. The retiring directors, Alessrs Edgar Hazlett and James Begg, were reelected, and Alessrs C. H. Statha.nand J. S. Hislop were reappointed auditors. "• All the speakers made special reference to the hopes that were entertained for an improvement in the industry as a result of the developments taking place for the better utilisation df coal, either in its pulverised form or by distillaton at low temperatures for the extraction 1 of the valuable oils and the manufacture of smokeless fuel.
