(By Telegraph—Press Association). THE COUNCIL WELLINGTON, September 29. The Legislative Council met at 2.8' p. m. The London and New Zealand Ran! Limited Bill was read a third time am passed, amended by the Special Committee of the Council. The Council agreed to the amendments made by the House cf Rep re sentatives in the Church of England Empowering Bill. ■ After discussion on a motion by Hon. Mclntyre that in the opinion o the Council the time has come when the Government should impose a duty on all imported coal, the debate was adjourned. After some discussion on the second reading of the Aleut at Detectives Amendment Bill, the debate was ad jourued. •The Council rose at 5 p.m. till I uosday next.
THE HOUSE. The New Zealand University Amendment Bill was read a second time pro lorma and referred to the Education Committee. The House rose at 11.45 till 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday.
